Manuel
Antonio National Park, called the "Crown Jewell", of Costa Rica's
park system. Explore the jungle rainforest, with it's incredible collection

Sport
Fishing in Costa Rica is big, more than 70 current IGFA fish were caught
in Costa Rican waters, and our location offers some of the best year round sport
fishing in Costa Rica. Billfish are the most popular fish to catch here,
but releasing a half dozen sails and a couple of marlins is common. Other
fish to catch here include Dolphin (not flipper), Giant Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo,
Cubera, Roosterfish, a variety of Snapper, Grouper, Blue Runners, Rainbow Runners,
Snook, Jacks, Mackerel and much more.
Surfing
in Costa Rica has gained an international reputation. We have some fun
breaks and the water temperature is in the high 80's year round. Popular
surf destinations are Jaco, Dominical, Tamarindo and Manuel Antonio. The

Learn Spanish in Costa Rica. Manuel Antonio has four Spanish schools that offer courses by the week, after a hard day of conjugating verbs, nothing is more refreshing than a splash in the ocean. You can learn Spanish in San Jose, most of the schools in Costa Rica are located there, but why? When you can get the same thing at the beach. All the Spanish schools are easy to get to from the Banana Tree Hotel. You can either walk to them or take a short 5 minute bus ride. The schools offer intensive instruction.
This is an incredible place for bird watching, 270 species have been recorded in Manuel Antonio and it's surrounds, including 15 different species of hummingbirds. My favorite is the Laughing Falcon, after catching it's prey, usually a snake, it let's out a loud laughing sound that can be heard throughout the jungle. Birding doesn't get much better than Manuel Antonio.
White water rafting is one of the most popular activities in Manuel Antonio. We have two rivers that provide class II,III, and IV rapids. You can either do a half-day or full day. The rafting operators pick you up and drop you off at the Banana Tree Hotel and they provide you with lunch. Their are lots of ways to get wet in Manuel Antonio, but this is probably the most exciting.
Their are two completely different kayaking experiences in Manuel Antonio. You can either enjoy ocean Kayaking, with the waves, islands, and saltwater. Or you can kayak a mangrove estuary and enjoy getting close up and in the jungle. Why not do both? Ocean kayaking requires a degree of physical fitness, while mangrove kayaking is suitable for just about anyone, the tides basically sweep you in and out of the estuary.
With so much to do there is no getting bored. You can try one of the town's two casinos, several discos, or may be a massage on the beach, visit a spa, visit the Buena Nota and get your souvenirs, shop the farmers market for fresh and exotic fruits and vegetables.
