About iCare iCare Costa Rica Real Estate and Retirement was created to meet a challenge, to become a part of the solution, instead of a part of the problem. The challenge facing us, was the continuing destruction of Costa Rica's environment and society, due to poor real estate practices. When I told my friends and environmentalists, that I was going to start a Costa Rica Real Estate company, they were shocked, angered and bewildered. Costa Rica real estate has a bad reputation for causing enormous environmental and social destruction. And they couldn't understand why I wanted to start a real estate company. One of my friends became visibly angry and accused me of going over to the dark side. The environmentalist was stunned, because I had been fighting Costa Rica real estate companies, and American land developers for years. As I explained to him, our efforts were having minimial success, what Costa Rica neededwas a new approach. This wasn't a case, as my friend thought, of "If you can't beat them - join them." No, instead it was an effort at "Fight fire with fire." If real estate was the problem. Then real estate could also be the solution. We know you are coming to Costa Rica, either to buy property, invest, or for retirement. Before iCare, there were no alternatives, you didn't have a choice.
